The 38th day of Mahakumbh continues in Prayagraj, but the city’s traffic system has completely collapsed due to the increasing crowd of devotees. Every road from the believers gathered for bathing and worshiping the Ganges is full. Entry and exit points have long queues of trains, which has severely affected traffic. Devotees were stranded for three-three hours due to a four-kilometer long jam on the New Yamuna Bridge. The situation is that it is taking hours to cover a distance of 1 kilometer. VIP vehicles are being given entry, while common devotees are being stopped 10-12 kilometers before the city.
Devotees are upset due to the negligence of the administration, people are hoping for relief from heat and thirst, but no concrete solution seems to be seen.
Vip Rebate to vehicles, Common devotees suffering
The situation has become even more difficult for common devotees. They are being stopped in parking 10-12 km before the city, while VIP vehicles are being allowed to reach Arail Ghat. Only the vehicles registered in Prayagraj are allowed to enter the city, which has increased the difficulties of the devotees coming from outside.
Devotees suffering from heat and thirst
Devotees are upset with the traffic jam, but the responsibility of opening it is neither taking the district administration nor the local police. In the scorching heat of February, the condition of the people trapped in the jam is disturbed. No arrangements have been made for basic needs like water, due to which the devotees are facing a lot of problems.
There was a lot of jam for the local people too
This jam has become a cause of trouble not only for external devotees, but also for the local people of Prayagraj. People are unable to reach their offices, shops, schools and colleges on time. It has had a special impact on private jobs, because due to constant delay, their employment has been facing a crisis.
Health is also affecting health
This terrible jam is affecting not only daily life but also health. People are sweating more due to being stuck in jam for hours, especially pedestrians and two -wheelers are having problems with dehydration. At the same time, vehicles stuck in traffic are constantly leaving smoke, due to which pollution is also increasing and people are having difficulty in breathing.
When will the system improve?
It is the responsibility of the administration to maintain traffic system in a big event like Mahakumbh, but in view of the current situation, the question arises whether any concrete solution will be found or will the devotees and ordinary citizens continue to get upset like this?
