Pune rape case: A 26 -year -old woman was allegedly raped by a man in a standing bus of state transport in Pune city of Maharashtra. Police said on Wednesday (26 February) that the accused has a criminal record. Leaders of opposition parties reacted sharply to the incident that took place on Tuesday morning. He convicted the Home Department of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis for failing to deal with increasing crime in Pune region. An official of the Swargate police station said that there are cases of theft and chain snatching against suspected 36 -year -old Dattatreya Ramdas Gade.

It is alleged that after this he took him to an empty ‘Shiva Shahi’ AC bus parked in the station premises. Due to the lack of lights inside the bus, he hesitated to climb the bus at first, but the person assured him that this is the right bus. According to the woman, the accused told her that she can see the flashlight after boarding the bus. After this, he followed him and then ran away by rape.
Accused imprisoned in CCTV
The officer said that the police have identified the accused Gade with CCTV footage. Many teams have been formed to catch him. Deputy Commissioner of Police Smartana Patil later told reporters that in CCTV footage, the woman is seen going to the bus with the accused. He said that at the time of the incident, there were many people and many buses in the bus base complex.
The DCP said that the woman did not contact the police immediately after the incident. Rather, he boarded the bus going to Fallon and told his friend about the incident on the phone during the journey. Patil said that on the advice of her friend, she went to the police station. The official said that the woman’s condition is stable and has given a clear statement to the police.
Case filed, search for accused continues
He said that a case of rape has been registered under the Code of India. DCP said that cases have been registered against Gade in Shikarpur and Shirur police stations in Pune district. He said that the police have formed eight teams to catch him. The officer told PTI that the team of investigative dogs is also being used.
Opposition attacked
Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) leader and Baramati MP Supriya Sule targeted the BJP -led Maharashtra government over the incident. He said that there is a police post nearby and regular patrolling in the area. Sule told reporters, “Yet such an incident occurs in Swargate, which shows that anti-social elements have no fear of law. Home Department has failed to stop crime in Pune. The hearing of this case has failed to stop the crime. Should be in court and the accused should be punished severely. “
Harshvardhan Sapkal, head of the Congress’s Maharashtra unit, claimed that the incidents of rape in the state were increasing. He said that MSRTC buses are the lifeline of Maharashtra. Now there has been a rape incident inside the MSRTC bus.
