Up liquor shop licenses: The first phase of e-lottery draw of country liquor, composite shops, cannabis shops and model shops in Uttar Pradesh is going to be released today i.e. on 6 March 2025. According to official data, applications have been received for retail liquor shops of various categories including domestic liquor, composite shops, model shops and cannabis shops. The lottery draw will be held on Thursday (March 6) in four slots between 10 am and 4.45 pm.
The department has already become rich in the fee before issuing the application license. The Excise Department has earned more than one billion rupees from the application amount submitted by the people. The average contribution of per capita in the revenue of excise in UP is Rs 4,217. This figure is more than other neighboring states of Madhya Pradesh, Haryana and Delhi. There is tight security in all districts where lottery is going to come out.
Excise Minister (Independent) Nitin Aggarwal said that till February 28, a revenue of Rs 43,323 crore has been earned from the liquor business. In February, Chitrakoot, Prayagraj, Chandauli, Kaushambi and Mahoba crossed the business crossing. In February, 100 percent of the targets were completed in these districts.
Aggarwal said that a total of 80,243 raids were conducted in the entire state to investigate illegal liquor last month. 1,676 was detained during this raid. Last year, the Excise Department was successful in raising Rs 45,507 crore for the treasury of UP.
He further informed that the Excise Department in Uttar Pradesh has already earned more than Rs 100 crore from the application fee for liquor shops. The minister said that most of the applications have been made in Noida and Lucknow.
Apart from this, Gorakhpur is at number three. This time 15,342 people have applied for 580 shops in CM Yogi’s city Gorakhpur. The e-lottery of liquor shops is an online process. In this, applicants are selected to obtain licenses for liquor contracts.
