Uttarakhand avalanche: There was a huge avalanche at the Border Roads Organization (BRO) camp near Mana village in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, in which 54 laborers were buried under snow. The rescue team has so far saved 46 laborers. But five laborers died tragically in the accident. Rescue operations were rescued on Sunday (2 February) on Sunday (February 2) with the help of search dogs and helicopters to evacuate three laborers trapped under several feet of snow in the avalanche near Badrinath Dham. An official said on Sunday that 51 people have been evacuated out of 54 people so far. 5 of them have died tragic.
After the accident on February 28, at least 50 workers were rescued from the avalanche affected site on Saturday. But four of them died. On Sunday, the authorities started efforts to save four more workers trapped in snow. However, on Sunday morning, the army found another body, causing the death toll to five. The body is being brought to the outpost.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reached the State Emergency Operations Center and took stock of the ongoing rescue operations in Mana. At the same time, the officers were instructed to smooth the power, communication and other facilities affected by avalanche.
Chamoli District Magistrate Dr. Sandeep Tiwari said that the weather is clear. Relief and rescue operations started in the morning to remove the trapped laborers. He informed that the ‘GPR (Ground Paytrating radar) system’ system is also coming from Delhi to investigate the missing laborers.
At a height of about 3,200 meters, 54 Majdars of the Border Roads Organization, who were living in eight containers in the BRO camp, were trapped in snow due to avalanche in the last village on the Indo-China border on Friday. The number of laborers was earlier said to be 55. But this number has been reduced to 54 after a laborer got information about reaching his house in Kangra in Himachal Pradesh.
Central Command General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Lieutenant General Anindya Sengupta and North India’s GOC Lt Gen D.G. Mishra has also reached the avalanche site to monitor the rescue operation. The search and rescue operations are involved in six helicopters including three helicopters of the Indian Army Aviation Corps, two of the Indian Air Force and a civil helicopter rented by the army.
Four missing laborers include Harmesh Chand of Himachal Pradesh, Ashok of Uttar Pradesh and Anil Kumar and Arvind Singh of Uttarakhand. Army officials on Saturday carried out the rescue operations mostly with the help of army and Air Force helicopters. Because the route to reach the spot is interrupted by snow in many places. He said that now the priority is that the snow -taken laborers should be taken to the army hospital in Jyotirmath and the missing people should be removed.

Lieutenant General Sengupta said that if the weather allows, then rako radar, unmanned aircraft (UAV), quadcopter and avalanche rescue dogs will be engaged to search for missing people. He said that it all depends on the weather. He said that more than 200 people of Disaster Management Authority, India Tibetan Border Police, BRO, NDRF, SDRF, Army, Indian Air Force, District Administration, Health Department and Fire Service are engaged in rescue work.
